About the Artist:

Aunna Escobedo earned her M.F.A. in Printmaking at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas. She grew up in Iowa, and received her B.F.A. at Mount Mercy University, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Upon returning to the area, she’s worked as an art educator and advocate for equitable opportunities within the arts. She is now the Program Coordinator at the Iowa City Press Co-op. where she works with collective members to develop affordable, accessible resources to the community. She also is the current Director of Galleries and Permanent Collection, and Instructor of Art at Coe College.

As a visual artist, she investigates the human experience mirrored within the natural world. Her studio practice embraces printmaking’s methodical qualities while integrating spontaneity and adaptation of unexpected forms.

Her passion and dedication to printmaking has led her down many roads, including serving on the Mid American Print Council board, and recently representing ICPC at the Southern Graphics Council International conference (2022). She has exhibited nationally including in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Ohio, California, Texas, and internationally in Italy.
